Activities at Loretto

about_loretto_sailingtrip.jpg

Activities take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 4-6pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays between 5-6pm. However, a small number of activities do take place in the evenings.

On Saturday evenings there is a series of events, including lectures, concerts and discos. Full attendance at some of these is encouraged - and expected.

The School's location allows us to organise regular visits to Edinburgh, for example to classical concerts, opera, dance, musicals and to major sports fixtures, not least the Rugby internationals at Murrayfield.

At the end of the summer term a number of School trips are organised.

These usually are:

The Second From visit to the Battlefields in Belgium.
The Third Form had a cultural and educational visit to London. To the Tate Britain, National Theatre, Royal Observatories at Greenwich and the Royal Opera House.
The Fourth Form goes on an annual CCF camp to Cultybraggan.
The Fifth Form to Craigower, Newtonmore.
The Lower Sixth to Lagganlia for outdoor activities.

Leadership and teamwork are nurtured in every area of school life at appropriate stages, for example Fourth formers acting as 'shadows', and a prefects system runs through out the School.

The broad range of activities can contribute greatly to developing the talents and unlocking the potential of every young person.
