Ruth Slater teaches baroque violin at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she is also lectures on historically informed performance practice, coordinating the baroque music module. She is active as a diploma examiner for the ABRSM. As a performer she freelances widely, regularly directing both period and modern instrument performances, as well as playing and recording with orchestras such as the Gabrieli Consort and Players and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. She has worked extensively with many other groups including Amsterdam Baroque, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, The Academy of Ancient Music, The Early Opera Company, Brandenburg Consort and Dunedin Consort. Ruth has appeared as a soloist both in the UK and overseas with Florilegium, The Hanover Band, London Handel Orchestra and Ludus Baroque. She will be sharing this wealth of experience with Loretto musicians and the afternoon will end with a short recital.
