Revd Phil Parker

Phil was thrilled to join the Loretto family for a second time at the start of Academic Year 2019/20. The first was way back in 1983 as a young Geography teacher, moving to Scotland because of the lure of the mountains and open spaces. He is delighted to be back, drawn again by the hills, and the warmth of the school community, but this time as Chaplain.

He is married to Isabel, who is also very glad to be here at Loretto. They have two grown-up children – one of whom is beginning work in Oxford and the other is a student here in Edinburgh. Phil is ordained into the Anglican Church, has spent 12 years working in two previous school chaplaincies and most recently completed seven years as the Minister of a church in Surrey. He has also ran Christian activity holidays for 11-18 year-olds, alongside serving as a Reservist Army Chaplain for eight years.

Despite advancing age, he stills gets into the hills whenever he can, has recently discovered the joys of sea kayaking and is looking forward to getting to know and getting involved in school life once more.

As Chaplain at Loretto, Phil lives within the school’s campus. He teaches Religious Studies to both F2 and F3, as well as the Sixth Form. He visits the boarding houses and Schoolhouse, and assists in activities including the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, the CCF, and the Running Club. His email is:
