Latin is taught solely by Alison Horsey,
Alison was born in Lancashire, spent her childhood in Yorkshire, her secondary school years in Devon and, with staunch Scots for both a mother and mother-in-law, has now realised her dream of settling in Scotland. She studied Classics at King’s College, Cambridge and, from there, embarked on a teaching career that took her to (among other places) the Channel Islands, Sweden and St Andrews. In her last full-time position she was a Housemistress at Durham School.
Since 1987, she has been based in Edinburgh, raising a family of three daughters and teaching part-time at St Mary’s Music School. Her interests include walking, swimming and taking advantage of the air routes opened up by Ryanair and Easyjet, in order to make regular visits to Classical sites in Italy and Greece.
