Cricket Camp

  • Tuesday 14th April to Friday 17th April
  • 10am till 4pm (wrap-around care 8am-6pm)
  • Ages 8 to13

Head of Cricket David Hinchliffe has developed the cricket camp around a fun, action-packed week of activities developing core skills of batting (striking), throwing, catching, bowling, running and healthy competition. But it doesn’t end with movement skills as the camp is also focused on teamwork, playing fair, making friends and personal growth for all children.

The camp will develop basic techniques both in and out of nets including:

  • Bowling action and bowling straight.
  • Batting setup, hitting straight and hitting 360 degrees.
  • Fielding catching, chasing, stopping and throwing.
  • Running between the wickets, calling, running in pads.

The camp also develops game awareness (understanding the rules, playing tactics) through exciting modified games that reflect modern cricket (including T20 and The Hundred). Tied closely to this are the mental skills children can develop through play. These include grace in both defeat and victory, concentration, self-awareness, resilience, decision-making and teamwork. However, most important is the pure enjoyment of playing cricket, which every game and activity focuses on as the first priority.
