Economics is  the study of how societies seek to best satisfy their populations infinite wants in the face of finite resources.

The aim of AS and A level Economics is to provide the students with the opportunity to develop an in depth understanding of economic theories and decision making processes, alongside the skills necessary to apply their knowledge to the understanding of current economic issues.

Throughout the course students will consider a variety of wide ranging issues including; the impact of the current debt crisis, possible methods of dealing with rising inflation and unemployment within the UK and the growing disparity between income levels and pricing within a variety of markets. Through consideration of these issues and the development of an “Economic Toolkit”, we aim to equip the students to be independent thinkers able to understand the world around them as well as the difficulties faced by policy makers.
