Emma Károlyi

Year 7 Class Teacher, Director of Studies (Junior School) and Head of Years 4-7

Emma graduated from St Andrews University in 1993 with an Honours Masters degree in Ancient History and Classical Studies. She completed her PGCE teaching degree through Bristol University and moved back to Scotland where she taught for seven years in Edinburgh, joining Loretto Junior School in 2007 initially as a class teacher and then in 2010 as Assistant Head of the Curriculum and Year Seven teacher.

Beyond school, Emma loves to write. She has written, illustrated and published a number of educational books and workbooks, and has written her own website for all her teaching materials and resources that she creates.

Emma’s sporting interests include horse riding and learning to ski. She enjoys family life, travelling, reading, archaeology and music. In particular, she loves playing the viola, and is a member of the Scottish Sinfonia, which regularly performs concerts in Edinburgh.
