Exciting Sports Department Appointments.

To further strengthen our sport this term, we are delighted to announce three new appointments. Mr David Guy has joined the hockey coaching staff, Mr Jason White who will be taking up the post of trainee PE teacher and Mr George Taylor who has joined the rugby coaching staff.

Mr Guy is an experienced hockey player and coach, having represented Scotland at all levels as a player.  He has coached at men’s club level, and has successfully coached both East of Scotland Under 16 and East of Scotland Under 18 in both indoor and outdoor hockey.  Mr Guy is a terrific skills coach, and he brings a wealth of experience to the hockey programme at Loretto.

Mr White has a degree in Sports Science and looks forward to embarking on a second career in teaching;  previously he enjoyed a successful rugby career. He is married and lives in North Berwick with his wife and three young daughters.

Mr White’s distinguished career in Rugby Union saw him represent Scotland 77 times and captain the team on 19 occasions.  He toured with the British and Irish Lions in 2005 to New Zealand and his career included playing for Glasgow, Sale Sharks and Clermont-Ferrand.  He  joins us having worked in the Sports Management industry since retiring from professional sport.   In his role he was working with some of Scotland's top Olympic and Para athletes.

Mr Taylor (OL 15) is currently playing for Melrose in the BT Premiership, and is a full-time professional player with Edinburgh Rugby.  He will join twice weekly to coach our pupils.
