Help us purchase a ParaGolfer Wheelchair

Help us make the Loretto Indoor Golf Centre the most accessible golf facility in Scotland

At Loretto our vision, now that our new Indoor Golf Centre (The Scottish National Golf Training Facility), is a reality, is to ensure that golf is made accessible to everyone, particularly those who are confined to a wheelchair.  With this end we have taken the decision to increase our fundraising to enable us to purchase two special ‘ParaGolfer’ wheelchairs (electric powered sports chairs).  These incredible high-tech pieces of equipment will enable the school to service the needs of disabled golfers from across the community to help those with physical limitation to play golf as well as a range of other sports they use to enjoy or would like take up.

The therapeutic benefits of golf for physically limited players are immense. It stimulates the metabolism, stretches the muscles, reduces spasticties and enhances the mobility of their joints. The all-terrain ParaGolfer with its patented stand-up device combines practical know-how with innovative ideas for maximum playing fun. Its unequalled stability when the golfer is hitting the ball enables performance that is comparable to those of non-handicapped players.

Unfortunately at £18,000 each, ParaGolfer wheelchairs are not cheap.  Whist Loretto has already purchased one of these wheelchairs we would like to purchase a second.  Both wheelchairs will be based at Craigielaw Golf Club, one of our partner golf clubs and they will also be made freely available for use within Loretto’s new state-of-the-art Indoor Golf Centre as and when required.

We are very grateful to the members of Craigielaw Golf Club who are supporting us in our fundraising endeavours.  Loretto School is a registered charity and therefore gifts can be made tax efficiently from individuals through the Gift Aid Scheme and from companies as well as from third party charitable organisations such as the Charity Aid Foundation and charitable trusts.
