Home Internationals Golf Champions!
The Independent Schools Golf Association (ISGA) held its Home Internationals in East Lothian on 18th and 19th March. The top finishing schools from last year's knockout, which had over 120 schools competing, qualified to play for their country.
Loretto qualified as the best Scottish school and was selected to represent Scotland.
An excellent team performance at the Home Internationals secured Loretto their fifth Home Internationals Title and a staggering ninth National Title overall.
Craigielaw Golf Club played host to Round 1. Breezy conditions made scoring difficult, but some excellent golf from Harry Austin led the scoring with a 1 under par 70. Lou Tan and Yannick Artigolle followed on 73 and Caroline Zolg 79. With three scores counting Loretto took a four shot lead over Wellington College into the second round. The final round was played around the Fidra course at Archerfield Golf Club.
Another windy day made scoring very challenging, on the Fidra course. Caroline got off to the perfect start with an eagle at the second and led the scoring for the day with a one over par 73. Lou followed closely with a 74, Harry 76 and Yannick 77. This resulted in Loretto being two shots behind Wellington at the start of the day. However, with Wellington posting scores of 76, 77 and 78, Loretto won the day by 8 shots taking the title by 6 shots. Harry won the best individual score with a two-day total of +3 - one shot ahead of Lou who recorded +4.
An excellent performance and a great conclusion to a successful week. Our congratulations to the team.
The next National Final is the ISGA Finals at Royal St George’s and Princes on April 23rd and 24th.
