Rachael Delaney has an MA English Literature degree from Edinburgh University and was inspired to work with young people after teaching primary pupils in South Africa during her GAP year. She has worked in education since 2004 when she started her career as an English teacher in Edinburgh after attaining her PGCE (secondary). She progressed to become a whole school literacy coordinator and faculty head in two Edinburgh secondary schools where she led whole school literacy development and curricular programmes. Since joining Loretto in 2016, Rachel has taken up position as a Support for Learning literacy teacher. She is the second and third form Support coordinator, overseeing the support needs of all in this cohort. She also leads the transition process for pupils with support needs, liaising closely with the Support team at the Nippers. Rachael is currently undertaking a Masters in Inclusive Education in her spare time, having recently been awarded a postgraduate certificate in Inclusive Education. In between studying, she enjoys spending time outdoors running or just pottering in her veggie patch with her chickens. She has two children and a very adorable labradoodle.
