The James Waterhouse Piano Competition 2017.
82 young pianists from all over the country took part in our 7th James Waterhouse Piano Competition on Saturday, 18th March.
Since the arrival of our magnificent pianos and the awarding of All-Steinway status to Loretto School, hundreds of children have taken part in this event which is now regarded as one of the foremost piano competitions in the UK for children 18 years or younger.
Many entrants took part in the morning non-competitive Junior Master Classes, where eminent pianists Leon McCawley and Christopher Baxter offered encouragement and advice for children up to grade 5.
From the seven competitive classes during the day, ten performers were chosen to repeat their performances in the evening final. As well as a trophy and cash prizes, the winners of the Intermediate and Advanced classes were invited to perform in Steinway Hall, central London on Thursday, 27th April (if you would like to attend the London Recital, please email email@example.com).
The winners of the 2017 James Waterhouse Piano Competition are Helen Futty (Foundation Class) Hamish Ogilvy (Intermediate Class) and Ethan Loch (Advanced Class).
Our congratulations to all who took part.
