UK-wide measures to suppress the spread of the COVID-19 infection - School Closure
Following the new UK-wide measures announced on Wednesday 18th March 2020 to suppress the spread of the COVID-19 infection, Loretto will close for normal school operation at 4pm this Friday 20th March 2020, until we receive guidance from the UK Government to re-open.
This does not mean the Loretto experience ends for our pupils and their families. Our campus and classrooms will be closed but what makes a school – our people – will very much be open, albeit in a different way. You can expect Loretto staff to be responsive to direct communication by email or phone.
At Loretto, we are committed to minimise as much as possible the disruption the current situation brings to our pupils’ education. Alternative ways of learning & teaching – such as learning packs, digital teaching methods, and interactive communication tools – are already in place and will start to be implemented from next week. Of course, our boarding pupils will be cared for until safe transport to their home or guardian can be arranged.
For prospective families, the Loretto experience does not stop either. Our Admissions team is available to answer any of your questions by email or over the phone. They can also guide you through all that Loretto has to offer using digital tools, such as video tours and calls. Get in touch!
These are unprecedented times, but crises like these always present opportunities. Our children can develop and hone better independent learning skills, families may be able to spend more time together, and there is an opportunity to recalibrate life and slow down. Although we are entering a phase where we need to self-isolate physically we do not need to self-isolate communicatively. We cannot control outside events but we can control our attitudes. Let us strive to be positive and seek to help those who we can in whatever way we are able.
With all good wishes for the unchartered waters ahead.
