We help Keep Scotland Beautiful on World Oceans day

On Saturday 8 June 2019, the Friends of Loretto volunteers set off to Keep Scotland Beautiful on World Oceans day.

Bin bags and tongs at the ready, the group started their 'Litter Pick Walk' along past the racecourse, then going up the river Esk and along the beach towards Newhailes House. In this lovely park, children enjoyed some time to play, and a coffee / flapjack / juice was much welcomed to revive all of us.

Throughout the entire walk along the Ladies Walk and back via the John Muir Way, we filled 11 large bags with a diversity of litter items such as cotton buds, bottle tops, old cans, plastic bottles, marathon debris and wet wipes. We finished just as it started to spot with rain!

A great team effort, thanks to everyone who came along to help!
