Why isn't there a cure for cancer yet?
Many congratulations to Lower Sixth pupil, Nina Young who has been awarded 1st Place in the prestigious Peterhouse Kelvin Science Essay Prize.
The judges felt that Nina's essay, 'Why isn't there a cure for cancer yet?', stood out for its "clear style, level of research and originality of thought".
The standard of entries was extremely high and the commendation put Nina first out of 250 entries.
The Peterhouse Kelvin Science Essay Prize is a U.K.-wide opportunity for Lower Sixth Form pupils to demonstrate to Cambridge University their intellectual curiosity and their academic ability.
Only the brightest pupils are recommended by their schools to enter this competition.
This is not the first time that Loretto pupils have excelled in this competition. Two years ago Claudia was awarded highly commended and just last year Robert came in third place.
