Below are frequently asked questions relating to the Loretto Golf Academy.
We have a proven track record of excellence in Golf education, having won 14 national titles in two decades. We support all ambition levels – from those who are looking to lower their handicap and have fun, to those with professional aspirations. Golfers’ time in the Academy promotes their overall development, creating disciplined learners who thrive in mind, body, and spirit.
The LGA is located on Loretto’s campus on Scotland’s Golf Coast. World-renowned links courses are nearby, including Muirfield and Renaissance Club.
Golf is seamlessly integrated into pupils’ timetables, ensuring that academics are prioritised whilst still allowing plenty of time for pupils to develop their talents. Like their peers, golfers are expected to uphold certain academic standards – completing homework and coursework, attending classes, and actively participating in lessons.

We’re incredibly proud of how many girls choose to play Golf at Loretto – one quarter of Academy members are girls. We’re committed to growing the game for girls by providing ample opportunities for them, whether that’s through the Get into Golf extracurricular activity or the Performance Squad.
There are plenty of opportunities for Lorettonians to gain tournament experience, with the focus always being on exposure, preparation, and confidence building.
Loretto hosts its own WAGR and EGR ranked event, the Loretto Junior Golf Tour (LJGT), allowing young golfers to gain ranking points and open doors to college and professional pathways.

Golf is for everyone at Loretto. The Get into Golf programme is ideal for those looking to get into the game. Pupils who wish to become members of the Academy can join the Club Squad with no handicap requirement. More competitive golfers can be considered for the Development Squad, which requires a handicap of 20, and the Performance Squad, where a handicap of 5 or below will be considered. Yes, Loretto hosts its very own residential Golf Camps over the summer holidays, open to children aged 12-18. Details for our Summer 2027 Golf Camps will be announced soon.
