A Highly Competitive Circuit

Rugby is the major sport for boys in the Autumn term and played in many independent schools in Scotland. All boys from 2nd to 4th form play rugby three times a week on Pinkie. Loretto has a proud history of rugby and competes on a highly competitive circuit with regular fixtures against Fettes, Glenalmond, Merchiston Castle, The Edinburgh Academy, Robert Gordons College, High School of Dundee and schools south of the border. Loretto also runs a 7’s circuit where teams participate in the Rosslyn Park and North of England 7’s tournaments play in the Spring term.

Loretto regularly provides players for the Edinburgh, Borders and National age grade squads.

  • The opportunity to visit a Refereeing Academy, where young referees are developed for a career in professional refereeing.
  • The opportunity to become a qualified coach, referee, and First Aider.
  • The opportunity to go on overseas and domestic tours – recent tours undertaken include Manchester and South Africa.
