Form 2 and Form 3
In Forms Two and Three, students are introduced to a broad spectrum of musical genres and traditions. They engage in practical music-making, learn basic music theory, and explore music technology. This foundational course is designed to cultivate a deep appreciation for music and to build the skills needed for further study.
GCSE (Form 4 and Form 5)
The GCSE Music course at Loretto is a comprehensive programme that covers performance, composition, and music analysis. Students study the Edexcel syllabus, exploring various styles and periods of music from classical to contemporary, and develop their abilities to perform solo and in ensembles. This course provides a solid foundation for those considering A-Level Music or a career in the arts.
A-Level (Sixth Form)
Our A-Level Music course is ideal for students who wish to deepen their understanding and proficiency in music. Students study the OCR syllabus which involves advanced study in music performance, composition, and theoretical analysis. Students engage with a wide range of musical styles and prepare for higher education in music or related fields. The A-Level course is both challenging and rewarding, offering extensive opportunities for personal and artistic growth.
